Who Is Jesus ?

The Preeminence Of Christ

Many people doubt that Jesus is who he said he was. It says in Philippians 2 starting with verse 5...⁵Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

⁶Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

⁷But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

⁸And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

⁹Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

¹⁰That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

¹¹And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

This leaves us with no doubt, Jesus is equal with God. Jesus IS God!

Take a look at Isaiah 9:6 -

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

This was written 500 years before Jesus was born! Only Jesus could fulfill this prophecy of the Messiah to come.

⁵⁴Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honours me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:

Again, many people try to get to God through their actions or by "living a good life". None of us can be good enough to deserve heaven. It says in Isaiah 64, verse 6 - ⁶But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our sins, like the wind, have taken us away.

It says in Romans 3: 23 - All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

All of us deserve to die because of our sins but we don't have to because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.

In Romans 6: 23 it says:

²³For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
